Our Story

Bath Organic Group was established in 1986, as a splinter group of Avon Garden Club in Bristol. Two years later, BOG (as it’s known by its members and friends) took on the tenancy of a section of Lower Common West allotment site where there were 10 (later expanded to 21) unworked plots. After two more years of hard work, planting hedges, digging the plots, creating a pond, planting fruit trees and soft fruit – interspersed with a lot of social activity – an organic demonstration garden was developed, formally opened by the Mayor of Bath in May 1991.

You can find us not far from Bath’s Royal Crescent. Our main access is from the Upper Bristol Road, using the gate between the allotment site and the children’s play area. It’s just opposite the Hop Pole pub. Bus numbers 3, 4 and X39 all stop close by.
